The museum is open on: Saturdays & Sundays: from 1pm to 4 pm and sometimes both days until 6pm. Call to ask if they are open after 4pm if you are planning to see the museum later in the day. My husband and I recently visited Veterans Memorial Park and Museum in Deltona after finding it on Google. It’s a small, dog-friendly park that serves as a thoughtful tribute to those who served in the military. The park is designed like a memorial site, though it's important to note that it’s not an actual burial ground. Instead, it’s a place to reflect on the lives of those who have passed, with plaques and markers that tell their stories. The park features a helicopter and artillery display, which adds a significant historical touch to the setting. There are also picnic tables and outdoor bathrooms, making it a convenient spot for a relaxed visit. We arrived a little after 4 p.m. and were greeted by two knowledgeable veterans who gave us a personal tour. Their insights into various wars and military branches were incredibly engaging. The museum houses original uniforms and artifacts donated by veterans, giving visitors a tangible connection to history. It’s a donation-based museum, so entry is free, but the experience is priceless. One of the most fascinating parts was learning how soldiers used to load guns and seeing a helmet that doubled as a cooking pot and even a makeshift bath. The veterans also mentioned that they offer weekly classes if you’re interested in learning more, which we might explore on a future visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Veterans Memorial Park and Museum and look forward to returning, especially to bring my grandfather, who served in the war. This is a hidden gem in Deltona, and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in military history or looking for a peaceful place to reflect.
