Planning The Perfect Day
Ceremonies By The Ocean
The New Smyrna Beach Area is proudly wedding friendly, and a beachfront ceremony can be wonderfully simple with a little planning. For beach wedding parties of 50 or fewer, no special permits or licenses are required, though a courtesy call to Beach Patrol is requested. As you choose a location and time, keep practical details in mind, including tides and weather, wind (especially for décor and audio), nearby parking and restrooms, and any guidelines that help protect dunes and local wildlife.
If you plan to bring larger décor, seating arrangements, or amplified music, it’s smart to confirm what’s allowed so your setup is smooth and respectful of the beach environment. If you still have questions as you plan, contact our team. We’re happy to help, including coordinating room blocks so your guests can stay close and celebrate all weekend.
Florida’s Marriage Licenses
In Florida, marriage licenses are regulated by the state but issued through the County Clerk’s office. Volusia County Clerk locations are available in Daytona Beach and DeLand, and most offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with no appointment needed. If either applicant has been previously married, you must provide a copy of the divorce papers showing the date the marriage ended. Marriage licenses can be used statewide.
The standard fee is $86 with completion of an approved marriage preparation course, and the fee may be reduced to $61 for Florida residents. Florida residents who do not complete the course are subject to an additional three-day waiting period. Applicants will need their Social Security number and a valid driver’s license or picture ID; non-U.S. citizens may use a passport for identification. Both the bride and groom must be present at the time of application.
