Dr. Michael Johnson and his nurse practitioner Andrea Hughes saved my life - and that is no exaggeration. I have been a patient in their practice for a year and a half. They provide the most comprehensive and thorough physical examination that I have ever received - and I served in the military. Dr. Johnson goes way beyond the current standard of care by using an ultrasound machine to evaluate most of the major organ systems that other physicians evaluate with only palpation. Not only does this allow him to evaluate me in amazing depth and detail, it is extremely educational. As just one example, he shows me small soft tissue plaques in my carotid arteries and how they affect the blood flow in that region. He is able to record his findings and compare them from one visit to the next - and know definitively if my condition is improving, remaining stable, or getting worse and may need a referral to a specialist. Two weeks ago, I discovered an enlargement of my right testicle so I called for an appointment. Dr. Johnson told me to come in immediately and he fit me in that same day. He did an ultrasound and found that a tumor was present. He knew based on his previous exam that it had come up fast and needed to be addressed urgently. This is where Nurse Hughes stepped in. She worked feverishly to push my authorization through and had me scheduled with the urologist and radiologist immediately. Within a week I had the testicle removed, a full radiological work-up completed, and I am developing a plan for future evaluations with an oncologist. Everyone who has been involved with my care has been amazing, and they all agree that I owe my life to the timely and thorough care I received from Dr. Johnson and the aggressive coordination and follow-up by Nurse Hughes.
