We had planned to spend the summer going back and forth to the mountains in our camper, but those plans changed when my mother-in-law became very ill. She was living with us, and we were her full-time caregivers for several stressful months. We desperately needed a place close to home where we could still get away and recharge whenever real nursing care was available. This park ended up being perfect. It’s close to the beach, quiet, and truly peaceful. The staff are kind, the other renters are friendly, and they do an excellent job keeping everything clean. Having the pool for our little one on hot summer days was such a gift, and there are almost always kids around for him to play with. My mother-in-law passed away two weeks ago. Even through the hardest part of this season, this place has been a real source of peace and tranquility for our family. We plan to keep our camper here for a while longer because of how restorative it’s been for us. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a calm, well-run spot to land when life gets heavy.

Great campground, location was so convenient. Enjoyed our stay! Very friendly staff, pool was very nice as was our site. Only recommendation would be spend a little time on upkeep for the amenities (playground, shuffle board etc). We would definitely return!

The park is very nice, although there are still remnants visible of the last hurricane damage. The sites are close, but our pull-through had foliage between sites to make it more pleasant. The pool and bathrooms are fantastic! I loved the mural on the pool maintenance building! The playground needs more modern structures and/or upgrades. I would have liked to go fishing in the lake, but the walk is too far and I was told no motor vehicles could go down there. Yet I saw campers and cars almost right to the lake! Pretty nice park.

We stayed at Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park in February and March of 2026, in our class C motorhome. The site we were assigned was really small, just enough room for our motorhome and opening the awning. If we would’ve had a slide out, we would not have had room. Thankfully, we had really good neighbors for our entire stay, we all respected each other’s space. The electricity was always good, no issues at all. We also had no issues with our sewer. The water was unfortunately horrible. We used two inline filters, and then filtered with a Zero Water pitcher, but the water was not drinkable. The pool area was very clean, large, with plenty of chairs and tables. The pool was also very clean. The water temp when we arrived was COLD. Even though they advertise as “heated”, it’s heated with solar cells. By the end of our time there, the water did warm up enough, but still fairly cool. The bathhouse was extremely clean! The showers were great, but did take a while to get hot water ( about 45 seconds). The laundry room was very clean, seemed new. The washers and dryers looked rough, like they were outside at one time. The room needs better ventilation, very steamy when the dryers are in use. The entire park was pretty rustic; lots of trees that shed a lot of “stuff”, which made it look messy. Marijuana was frequently smoked near our spot, which was really disappointing. Many times we had to close our windows due to the unpleasant odor. Many other areas had marijuana smell in the air The garbage dumpsters were frequently overflowing even though they were dumped regularly. The fact that there isn’t any recycling causes the dumpsters to fill quickly. The children’s playground was old and in need of updating. No basketball hoop, even though they advertise that they have one. Very convenient location to shopping, restaurants, and the beach.

Staff was fantastic and location was close to everything. Loved the canopy of trees, felt like we were in the tropics. There are a lot of snow birds there, I hoped they would keep better care of their spots. A few left lights on all night. Overall, I’d stay there again.
