Destination Stewardship
As the destination management organization (DMO), we believe travel and tourism are more than just making memories and welcoming visitors to the area. The core of the DMO’s existence is bringing people together for shared experiences on the visitor side and the stakeholder side of the business. Let’s break down barriers of communication and share ideas about our industry, culture, destination, and where we want to go in the future – Together in one authentic and complete story!
Southeast Volusia/New Smyrna Beach Area
The New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau (NSBAVB), the Destination Management Organization for Southeast Volusia County, kicked off a year-long destination stewardship planning process needed to balance the visitor economy with the long-term health and vibrancy of the area’s five cities: Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill, and Osteen, to protect the natural resources and quality of life for our residents.
We have observed that as tourism has increased worldwide and in the State of Florida, destinations that fail to plan for sustainable growth have encountered adverse impacts on the community and natural resources. NSBAVB is committed to the responsible stewardship of our destination as a special place to live, work and visit.
NSBAVB has engaged MMGY, a leader in destination assessments, and representatives from key industries and community sectors including small businesses, chamber of commerce, arts & culture, local and county government, non-profits, and tourism-based businesses as well as input from Southeast Volusia residents to assist us in the project.
Steering Committee Documents
NSBAVB has created a steering committee to guide the development of this plan and act as champions throughout the implementation process.
