NSB African American History Trail

The NSB African American History Trail is a whole new way to explore the New Smyrna Beach area. After a warm, welcoming sunrise walk on the beach, start your journey at the Mary S. Harrel Black Heritage Museum. Next, stop off at Spruce Creek Park for a nature hike en route to visit Freemanville'sMount Moriah Baptist Church, the first major African American settlement in Port Orangethatholds its place in history. Then head west to Deland, where you'll earn more about the work of early African-American medical professionals and see collections about faith and family in the West Volusia Black Medical Gallery. Create your adventure and tell tales from the trails when you post and confess your exploits along the way. It's not where you take the trail–it's where NSB trails take you.
